Leading executive search firm releases white paper on Natural Resources Human Capital

By TRANSEARCH International

Growing tensions about the state of the world’s natural resources workforces have surfaced for a few stark reasons. These include the industry’s increased appetite for skilled workers, the ongoing challenge of convincing enough university students to pursue energy-related careers and the considerable demographic shift that is beginning to move the global post-war generation into retirement.

The perspectives of the TRANSEARCH global Resources, Energy and Infrastructure practice leaders frame the challenges ahead in the White Paper entitled 'Under Pressure: Natural Resources Human Capital - Perspectives from Transearch International' which presents a strikingly similar long-term growth barrier for nearly all of the world’s leading natural resources companies – that is, the scarcity of human capital and skilled leadership talent.

The White Paper presents regional perspectives from North America, South Africa, India and Latin America and addresses key issues such as new pressures that are being driven by the acceleration of the so-called commodities market “super-cycle”, human capital deficits resulting from massive and sustained increases in demand for natural resource commodities, and significant market shifts from government-controlled natural resources to the private sector.

Alain Tanugi interviewed on CNBC

By TRANSEARCH International

Alain Tanugi, Chairman, TRANSEARCH International Partners, was recently interviewed on CNBC's Headhunting Report with Ross Westgate. Following the credit crunch Alain provided his opinion on banks hiring plans.

Asked how the financial services were reacting to the credit crunch Alain replied 'Some of them have put a total freeze on their hires. Others are just pursuing already long assignments for certain fields. But, for the more hurt fields and sectors they are on the layoff approach or on a total freeze just waiting to see exactly what is going to happen to the markets in the near future'.

Alain is reasonably hopeful for 2008, suggesting that other sources of revenue for the major financial institutions will provide a buffer and lead to a continuity in the flow of hiring.

Alain Tanugi has over 30 years experience in Executive Search. Retained executive search firm extends ISO quality certificate

By TRANSEARCH International

In 2000 Lea Sauer, Managing Partner of ORBIS Executive Search Inc., TRANSEARCH International partners Zurich Office, felt very strongly that a strict policy should be set for quality in executive search. She says “In order to reflect the same level of understanding of quality as most of our clients, we decided to establish a quality system and pass the ISO certification processes”.

Since December 2000 the Zurich office is the only Retained Executive Search enterprise in Switzerland with an RES / ISO 9001:2000 certificate. Just recently, they successfully passed the repeat audit and extended its quality certificate until 2010. “Prospects and clients in all industries – even banking – are very positively surprised and impressed with this certificate”, says Christoph Hilber, who joined the office four months ago. Advantages are the immediate readiness on mandates thanks to properly documented processes and several milestones between acquisition and customer respective candidate satisfaction surveys.
